What is Acupuncture?
Traditional acupuncture is a branch of traditional Chinese medicine, a tried and tested healthcare system that has been practised for thousands of years in China and the Far East. It has been developed, researched and refined over centuries to give a complex and detailed comprehension of the body’s energetic balance. In acupuncture, needles are inserted at various very specific points in the body to help bring the body back into emotional, physical or mental balance,
How Does Acupuncture Work?
Treatment is provided by the use of very fine needles,. After consultation, points in the body are selected once a diagnosis or pattern of behaviour is established. Each treatment is immediately effective, as once a needle is in, your energy system otherwise known as ‘Qi’ is accessed.
We also use Moxa and Cupping as part of our therapies.
- Moxa is where a smouldering stick of compacted herbs is held close to the needles, or acupuncture points, as a heat treatment.
- Cupping is where glass cups are placed on the body in a way which creates therapeutic suction.
Acupuncture is used to treat a wide range of conditions including:
Addiction Anxiety Arthritis Incontinence Insomnia Irregular Periods
Back Pain Constipation Depression Facial Rejuvenation Hot Flushes
Male Impotency Migraine Rheumatism Sciatica Sports Injuries
